Not Today Satan

A good football team will always enter a game with a strategy. They study their opponent because the goal is to win, and you can’t win by entering something blindly. When we don’t approach our day strategically, we choose to step into it blindly; starting the day blind is like a football team walking out onto the field unprepared and expecting to win.

Just like in football, or any game, we too have an opponent. He would love for us to start our day without a plan; wandering through life. If we are unprepared then he can easily distract us from our purpose. His ways are cunning, and his goal is to make us doubt God’s promises and entangle us in sin. The more we learn what his strategies are, the better we will be at overcoming them.

Strategies of the enemy:

Shock and Awe

This is the tactic that the enemy uses to neutralize you. His goal is to overwhelm you to the point that you feel paralyzed. In doing so, he is hoping for you to give up and quit. But that is not what God created you to do! You were created to win, and how you respond to these moments is critical. Don’t respond out of emotion. Stay calm; the Lord himself will fight for you (Exodus 14:14).

The enemy would love for you to feel like the mundane has no meaning. It’s in the midst of your comfort that he tries to trap you. When you become trapped in comfort, boredom begins to drive your life and you start to become numb to your purpose. And before you know it, a year passes you by while your goals and dreams still remain on a piece of paper. But, if you can learn to detox your mind, feed it with the word of God daily, and step out in faith, your life will begin to produce the right kind of fruit. It all starts in your mind. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of the world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think (Romans 12:2).

This is a weapon the enemy uses to make you lose God’s will. In Jesus’ home town, they were so familiar with Him that they missed Him altogether. And because of their unbelief, He only did a few miracles there. When you start to become too familiar with the ways of God, you place a wall between you and your breakthrough. David who defeated Goliath got defeated by lust because he became too familiar with his surroundings and responsibilities. The enemy will tell you to sit back and relax knowing that it will eventually pull you away from God’s plan and purpose for your life. Don’t look at things from a mere human point of view, but see things from God’s perspective (Matthew 16:23).

Maybe you feel trapped in one of these areas right now, and your outcome of winning in the natural looks slim. Well do you know that you can overcome by the power of the Spirit? When you place your life in the hands of Jesus, a supernatural exchange takes place. And as you begin to walk with Him, He activates something powerful on the inside of you, making you realize that you were created to be an overcomer; that you were created for more. With Jesus, every day is game day. And every day is another opportunity to win.

You can overcome by:

Being intentional about your walk with God

Spicing up your spiritual journey

Coming to church with expectation and faith

“A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against the strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.”

-Ephesians 6:10-18
