A New Normal
And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart. –Ezekiel 11:19
God is always up to something; always ushering us into the new. A new mindset, a new heart and spirit, a new way to live our lives. As the world cunningly pressures us to conform and fit in, God invites us to establish a new normal brimming over with abundant life.
As we enter into a fresh year, we can also look to realign our lives to God’s normal and what it looks like to live through revelation and not just a new year’s resolution. When we come up with a resolution, it becomes one more thing we work and strive for. A revelation of God brings deep rooted, heart transformation and we then flow out of the abundance of our hearts. Revelation leaves room for God to move us through a metamorphosis journey.
When we are transformed from who we were to who God has created us to be, we then have the opportunity to show others how He has transformed us, and invite them to also live this new normal: new mind, new vision, new mission, new heart, new role. Jesus saves us and offers a new way to be human, but doesn’t leave us there to fend for ourselves. No! He gives us power to live above sin, and power to live way past mere mediocre lives.
And if our mandate is to establish the new normal in our homes, our workplaces, our region, we become ambassadors of Christ. We have been chosen to represent the God of the whole universe, and let our lives reflect what He is about! As ambassadors, as people charged with living the new normal, we assimilate to core tenets of building the new normal wherever we go. We meet Jesus and receive our salvation, we commit to Jesus through baptism, we join the mission, (Growth Track) we plug into a support system, (Crews) we reach out by Serving the City, and we reproduce by sharing our testimony and what God has done in our lives.
So, what will God do through your life in 2018? What steps will you take to establish a new normal?
